Hymn: Come Unto Christ

by Bryan and Jana Amundson and Michael Whatcott

November 12, 2018

This hymn marks my second collaboration with Bryan Amundson (see "Remember Me"). This musical ideas came rather quickly after receiving the lyrics from the Amundsons. After the foundational ideas were in place I published it on this website without the lyrics (see Hymn #6). Since then I decided to move it down a half-step into Ab which means the pianist/organist will no longer have to worry about playing E#. Now I can't decide which key is better. Anyway, it's always fun when a project comes together quickly.

Thanks again Amundsons!

Come unto Christ, be perfected in Him,
His grace is sufficient for you
Serve him with our hearts, and our might, mind and strength,
Show compassion in all that we do.

Come unto Christ, for remission of sin,
His power we'll never deny.
His blood that was shed, and the cov'nants we keep
Will allow us to be sanctified.

Come unto Christ, by the gift of His grace,
Become holy and without spot.
Denying ourselves of all ungodliness.
We'll be living as Jesus has taught.

Moroni 10:32-33

32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

33 And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot.
